Answer
Download specific file to your pc/computer and save as the folder/file.Those files mostly a proper file ready for download unless not available for download. Or files not existed any longer. Roll over the 'direct download link' to install the file.
Either unzip the folder file or a direct sims2pack.file likewise in this blog. Double click the sims2pack.file to install. Ensure that you have the expansion pack required for the download.
The files here mostly is a base game tested as in Sims2 base game.

Answer: Those custom contents as specify above might require or rarely need to have meshes.Ensure the proper files with meshes install/save to your 'Downloads' folder. Those re-colour files won't appear without meshes in your game. Utmost no meshes written by the artist hence you may download those files directly. Safe and sound.
**Sometimes you will notice a sims2pack.file for custom content too, those files do not place in the 'Downloads' folder - double-click the files and install directly. Still working well and appear in your game as well. Re-manage those *unusual* files once you encounter in the future.**
